A celebration of comics and cartooning. Mike will discuss the influence of Saturday Morning Cartoons and Sunday Morning Newspaper comics on his career. He will also share his process for cartooning and how he brought Ham and Eggs to life - from storyboards to print.

Join us for Ham and Eggs Day, celebrating Cartoonist and Director Mike Kunkel’s comic novel Ham and Eggs. We’ll start the day with Activity Hour with some Ham and Eggs activities and crafts. Afterwards there will be a chance to get your own copy of Ham and Eggs signed by Mike Kunkel. Rounding off the day Mike will talk about the influence of Saturday Morning Cartoons and Sunday Morning Newspaper comics. Meet the Author
Mike Kunkel
With nearly 30-years of experience in Cartooning,
Mike Kunkel has continued to do what he loves ... create and tell cartoon stories for audiences. By working on numerous Television and Film projects as a TV and FILM Director, Story and Development Artist, Character Designer, Screenwriter and Animator, Mike has been a cartoonist for such studios as Warner Bros, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Sony Entertainment, Universal Pictures, DreamWorks and Walt Disney Studios. As a Published Writer and Artist, Mike has been nominated four times for the prestigious EISNER AWARD and four IGNATZ AWARDS and is the creator of the two-time EISNER Award-winning comic book series "Herobear and the kid." He has also helped to relaunch the SHAZAM franchise for DC comics as an all-ages comic series. As a Designer he has lent his skills to animated TV shows and Features. Along with development for toys, games, and brand development. His Designs in television have also won the ANNIE AWARD for “Best Character Design in an Animated Television Production. “ Through illustration and print production, Mike has lent his skills to multiple print media projects such as Comics and Children’s Books. He’s created prints and original art pieces for varied creative outlets and art clients. He lives in Southern California where he spends most of his extra time trying to learn new magic tricks and playing games with his family. He’s never been early for a deadline.
