Meet Adrienne Brown

Adrienne Brown was born in Omaha Nebraska and for as long as she can remember she’s always had a love of music, history and art encouraged by her family. Unable to attend art school, Adrienne provided her own education by visiting museums, art galleries, studying the work of the masters both historical and contemporary and drawing every day. When her first marriage ended, Adrienne decided on a move to Los Angeles in the hope of getting work as an artist. She worked as a pastel portrait artist for close to 50 years off and on.

However, without college credentials, her job searches failed to bear fruit and her art future

looked bleak. While taking a CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) class, her work came to the attention of a local art director. Impressed by her talent and work ethic, Adrienne was soon offered a job in the theme

park company, Landmark Entertainment. In time, that work led to a two year stint in Tokyo and Oita, Japan where she continued her work as a set designer designing attractions for Sanrio.

Returning to the states, Adrienne eventually arrived at the Walt Disney Company to provide

technical assistance to the publishing department which was then undergoing a transition from

traditional illustration to digital. Adrienne had acquired her Adobe Photoshop skills at another Themed park design company called “The Works”. In time, the entire publishing production pipeline would be

digital and the Disney Company found itself lacking in artists who were adaptable to working in

both mediums. Soon, the Disney Company insisted Adrienne give up her position as, freelancer and begin working for the company as a full time employee.

Adrienne worked for Walt Disney Worldwide Publishing for 30 years, freelancing included, retiring in 2023.

Today, Adrienne Brown  has rediscovered her love of pastels after a long hiatus and enjoys drawing every day!
